Investment Properties  

What is an investment property? The answer is obvious. You buy an investment property to make money. Your plan might be to sell the property in a short time to make money or to hold the property and make money over a period of time. You must know what your plan is prior to buying the property.

There are many shows on television that show investors buying and selling a home in a short period of time. This process usually involves doing extensive work on the home. Upgrades include kitchens, bathrooms, painting the interior and exterior and landscaping. The key to this transaction is what you pay for the home.

Believe it or not there are investors who buy properties for the long term. They are interested in receiving rental income and believe over time the property will appreciate in value. These investors target multi-family homes and mixed use properties. A mixed use property is a store and apartments. This type of property gives the investor more diversification.
