“The Band’s Visit” was real and genuinely funny. Although having English subtitles, by the end of the movie you’ve engaged the characters and forgotten the language barrier. It’s short and sweet!

Lieutenant-Col. Tawfiq Zacharya, the solemn- faced conductor of an Egyptian police force brass band. The band arrives in Israel and finds themselves lost in a town of no culture, no anything! They befriend the owner of a cafe, Dina, your typical gypsy flusy. With no money, she takes them in for the night. Funny ackward scenes, one after the other, coupled with real-life emotion and sorrow.

“The Band’s Visit” is a great film to begin a love for foreign movies. Simple real to life humor, delivered
perfectly and characters that anyone, no matter where you’re from, can relate to. This film has limited viewing. The Angelika Film Center and the Lincoln Center Cinema have showtimes, as the Cinema Arts these theaters screen only quality films. This movie although slow paced is very good, only 87 minutes. Have an awesome week!
