“28 Weeks Later” not a nice movie people. If you have heart trouble
and/or blood makes you sick please stay at home. The story takes
place in London, 28 weeks following the “rage virus” outbreak. The
U.S. Army has secured a section of London where the survivors can
begin again. Supposedly all the infected have died and there is no
chance of the virus coming back. So the movie is all about the toxic
cleanup of London and the slow re-growth of a nation, ha yeah right!
Basically, all hell breaks loose again, shocker! Because of one
simple scene where kids typically don’t listen and do whatever the
heck they want regardless of any repercussions. Why are kids so dang
curious? So kids will be kids and zombies will be zombies!
Now for the negatives, well, as far as zombie movies go they’re not
many. This is the supped-up “Night of the Living Dead.”
Good solid acting, good pyrotechnics, awesome camera shots and
angles, for the most part, large quantities of blood, flesh eating,
zombies chasing after the uninfected, screaming and running,
screaming and running, just bloody chaos!
If you enjoy movies like “The Exorcist,” “Hostile,” “Saw,” “Texas
Chainsaw Massacre,” and of course Danny Boyle’s “28 Days Later,”
then you’ll love this sequel. The United Artist’s Westbury theater
wasn’t packed today and is comfortable and clean as always. Buy some
candy, soda, popcorn or just water, a brown bag, and an aspirin for
the queasy and weak hearted.
3 1/2 Stars
