“Fred Claus” may have ruined the holidays this year, for me and
potentially millions of innocent movie-goers. You have a visually
high quality film, professional and well-accomplished actors, great
effects, wardrobe, and editing, but the weak script destroys all
that hard work!
Fred Claus the older brother of
Nicolas Claus is jaded by his Saint
brother Santa. As a young boy he
doesn’t understand Nic and hisodd behavior. Further, his
parents favor Nic so Fred rebels. This rebellion leads to a life of
dishonesty and just doing
everything the wrong way.
Fred is arrested after scamming the public to donate money
“For the People” without a permit.
He calls his younger brother
Santa to bail him out, but there’s A catch he has to work for good
ole St. Nic until Nov. 21st. Coincidentally, Santa is under scrutiny
and shutdown is nearly eminent. Fred is Santa’s only hope for
survival and potentially the reason for being terminated!
“Fred Claus overall was disappointing, lacking the magic of a unique
Christmas story. I would save the $10 and rent “Home Alone,” “A
Christmas Vacation,” or “It’s a Wonderful Life.” Despite the failure
of this film I do respect all the hard work it takes to make any
film, short or feature length. The film does have several funny and
heart warming scenes.
1 Star -- Not as enjoyable as other holiday
movies.
