Holiday Survival Series…

Budgeting During and After the Holidays
Holiday Survival Series [Part 4]

Getting in over your head during the gift-giving season is easy to do. All it takes are a few unplanned presents and too many credit card purchases.

Many of us spend too much through the holidays only to be in debt for months after. You shouldn't let this happen, but if you did, it is not too late. If you used credit cards, try to pay off more than just the minimum balance due whenever you make a payment. Pay off the bills from the holidays as soon as you can to make the recovery process quicker. Once you have made all of the payments you can begin to save money either for next year or other expenses coming up.

Even if you had this holiday season covered, it's never too early to start saving for next year. You can make a separate savings account dedicated to Holiday spending for the year coming up. It's a great way to save, and it is easy. Just make regular deposits from your paychecks or other account. You'll be surprised by how fast the balance adds up. Just $20 every two weeks turns into $480, plus interest, in a year's time. That would cover a lot of gifts and decorations! And the more you put away each paycheck, the faster your savings grow.

Happy Holidays!!!
